God has stated in Hebrews 12:1-2 that every Christian who desires to spend eternal life with Him MUST
“…RUN with patience THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
Jesus also stated that as a man intended to build a tower - and as a king decided to wage war against another king - it is necessary to first “…COUNT THE COST” to determine if one has sufficient resources to complete the task. So it is with Salvation - or, “FINAL Salvation”:
“28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down FIRST, and COUNTETH THE COST, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
…31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down FIRST, AND CONSULTETH WHETHER HE HATH with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
…33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you [meaning, any Christian] that FORSAKETH NOT ALL THAT HE HATH, HE CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE.” (Luke 14:28-33)
The message from Jesus Christ in this chapter of the Bible is that EVERY CHRISTIAN MUST BECOME A DISCIPLE OF HIS. This is a mandatory requirement for obtaining Eternal Salvation.
